We have discovered a decreasing radial velocity in an outflowing UV absorber in NGC 3783; this is the first detection of a changing radial velocity in a Seyfert absorber. The velocity decrease could be due to bulk deceleration of the gas or to a change in the direction of motion of the outflow across the line of sight to the broad-line region (BLR). The available evidence favors the latter possibility, which is exciting because it is predicted by dynamical models of accretion disk winds. This simple model of a changing velocity vector predicts that the absorption column should decrease, and possibly even disappear, by early 2005.
