Over 800 visual estimates of the bright eclipsing contact-binary VW Cep are discussed. After a rapid synthesis of previous results concerning this star, a mean light-curve based on 3 months of observations is presented, and 37 primary and secondary minima have benn determined. They show a shift from the values predicted by the ephemeris, indicating an increase in the period and a drift of the secondary minimum from phase 0.5. It is therefore established once more that visual observations allow, when processed with care, a discrimination between primary and secondary minima for a star of limited amplitude. In a like manner, it is also shown that it is quite possible to deetermine with precision a minimum by using such estimates, in so far as the dissymmetry of the light-curve is taken into account, and on the condition of using to this purpose measures that are included within the same phase interval.
