A theory of z-oscillations is developed to obtain an analytic form of Kz, the force-field normal to the galactic plane. The radial velocities of OB stars are computed with this formula and are compared to the observed radial velocities with satisfactory results. The process is reversed, and the local mass density is found to be 0.13 plus or minus 0.03 solar mass/cu pc.
