We analyze data of downstream of the corotating interaction region forward shock at 1 AU by THEMIS. The observed ion temperature anisotropy (T⊥≈3T||)and high-plasma beta satisfy the mirror instability criterion, and the mirror growth rate is positive. Band-pass filtering of the magnetic field magnitude and the ion density shows that the magnetic field fluctuations and ion density vary in antiphase, as is typical for the mirror mode waves. In addition, we estimate the Alfvén ratio, that is, the ratio of fluctuations of the bulk velocity and the Alfvén velocity, and the ion compressibility, that is, the ration of the relative fluctuations of ion density and magnetic field. Combining these results, we find strong indications for the existence of mirror mode waves downstream of the corotating interaction region forward shock at 1 AU. The appearance of these waves is analogous to the Earth's magnetosheath, except for ion temperature anisotropy(T⊥≈3T||).
