We observed ρ Ophiuchi dark cloud with the Chandra X-ray Observatory for a 100 ksec exposure in April 2000. The image taken with ACIS-I array revealed about 90 sources in the 0.5--9 keV band in the 17' x 17' field of view. Hard X-rays (> 2 keV band) were detected from 16 of the 26 Class I protostars; the IR and the X-ray positions are strictly correspondent within <1'' accuracy. Hence the Chandra observations indicated that Class I protostars can emit X-rays certainly. Half of the detected Class I protostars showed clear flares, some of which occurred intermittently on the same sources. Most of the Class I protostars had temperature of several keV and absorption column of order of 1022 H cm-2.
