Two aspects of the fine ejecta generated by the Cretaceous-Tertiary bolide are here considered. Cratering scaling laws are first employed to estimate the mass of the ejecta particles in the 1 micron to 10 mm size range having launch velocities consistent with ballistic trajectories. Then, an evaluation is conducted of the effect of near-IR heating at the ground due to reentry of ballistic ejecta particles, in order to ascertain whether this mechanism can produce global wildfires.
