Spark source mass spectrographic analyses of six chondrites and six achondrites for niobium are reported. The geochemical behaviour of niobium shows a relative coherence between the Ta, Ti, Zr contents of meteorites and lunar samples and a lack of correlation with Ca and Al. The data provide a more substantial basis for the chondritic niobium abundance, which is estimated to be 0.5 ppm, equivalent to 0.9 atoms/10 6 atoms Si.
