A versatile 1D model of radiative transfer in the Venus atmosphere has been constructed which incorporates substantially more physics than previous models. The model allows rapid calculation of opacities in atmospheric layers of arbitrary path lengths, mixing ratios, pressures, and temperatures. The effects of clouds on the radiative balance are addressed in the model.
