Remanent magnetism in rocks on the Moon's surface has been a puzzle
since its detection in the Apollo missions. The Moon is too small to
support a dynamo like the one that powers the Earth's field, but could
the field have arisen early in its lifetime as a result of the
differential motion of the lunar mantle above?
