We propose an XMM exposure of the SXWQ PG1700+518. SXWQs usually show a soft X-ray flux fainter by more than an order of magnitude with respect to normal optically selected QSOs, because of X-ray absorbing winds/nuclear outflows, or peculiar physical states. The SXWQ classification may exhibit a transient behaviour; therefore, monitoring these peculiar objects can provide a unique opportunity to shed light on the accretion flow and nuclear outflows mechanisms in AGN. We aim at investigating the nature of PG1700+518 with sensible pointed observations, checking for any spectral and/or flux variability. With the proposed observation, all the SXWQs in the well-studied PG Bright Quasar survey will be observed at least once by XMM, gathering high quality homogeneous X-ray data for all these sources.
