A simple theoretical model is proposed which makes it possible to determine the effect of the turbulent motion on the spectral line profile of a turbulent gas. The model takes into account the contribution of the macroscopic turbulent motion as well as the microscopic thermal motion to Doppler broadening, which in case of considerable Mach numbers is significant. It is shown that the spectral line profile of a turbulent gas is still a Voigt profile, which is a convolution of Lorentzian and Gaussian profiles.
