The best determined extragalactic redshift periodicity is 37.5 km s-1. It is calculated that if the signal carrier for inertial mass - here called the machion - has an energy of about 6 × 10-29 eV this periodicity could be explained as shells of periodically diminished visibility with distance. This prediction is tested by examining the distribution of nearby galaxies.
