It is proposed that the angular resolution of an adaptive optical telescope in the presence of phase distortions of the received signal be determined according to the value of the equivalent diameter of the entry pupil, taking the distortion structure into account. The relationship is established between the angular resolution and the number of degrees of freedom of an adaptive telescope with a composite mirror.
