THIS communication reports some preliminary experimental results obtained from a study of: (1) Thermoluminescence induced in the five nucleic acid bases following irradiation at 77° K in a cobalt-60 γ-ray source. (2) Ultra-violet phosphorescence from the same materials at the same temperature, excited by a Hanovia fluorescence model 16 mercury arc lamp.
