Simultaneous spectroscopic and polarimetric observations of about 40 bright southern Be stars show that the continuum polarization is more stable than the emission spectrum. While several stars changed from an emission to an absorption spectrum, and vice versa, within a short time interval, no dramatic polarization variations could be observed. The most important present result is that the observed emission line profiles of the H-alpha and H-beta of all stars in the study are best reproduced by a shell which is not a disk, but rather a sphere extending to 5-6 photospheric radii. This shell rotates differentially, and probably possesses conservation of angular momentum and continuous mass flow.
