Recent developments in theoretical model calculations for novae and for core-collapse and thermonuclear su- pernova explosions are reviewed, including a brief dis- cussion of the likely sources of the (long) γ-ray bursts. Special emphasis will be on their predictions concerning the production yields of those radioactive nuclei that are potential candidates for the detection of γ-ray lines. Key words: Novae; supernovae, γ-ray bursts.
