During an interval of one year near the minimum of the 11-yr sunspot
cycle, an interpolated pattern of the interplanetary magnetic field has
been compared with the photospheric magnetic field. This reveals a
persistent pattern in the solar field extending over a wide range of
heliographic latitude on both sides of the equator.
