Observations of the flare-associated transformation of a dark fibril-covered H-alpha area into a stable plage region are reported. The observations are based on H-alpha filtergrams obtained during a flare of importance 2B. The observed flare-associated change in chromospheric structure is considered as evidence for magnetic-field reorientation from the horizontal to the vertical direction in a large area, which probably occurred when the expanding flare progressively covered the fibril area and flare loops were formed.
