A new Doppler auroral radar system operating in the south of New Zealand is described. The system provides a concise and economical method of displaying dynamic features in the radio aurora. Data presentation is such that quantitative measurements can be made while still allowing the recognition of broad-scale dynamic features in both echo amplitude and Doppler shift. This is believed to be the only system apart from STARE that is routinely recording auroral Doppler information.
