The nature of the SL9 impact sites has continued to change with time, and has been characterized by HST observations in March and April 1995, which show the atmospheric perturbations caused by the impacts still present in the form of darkening at the impact latitude in UV images and brightening in methane band images, and in the form of strong NH3 absorption in UV spectroscopic measurements with the FOS. This program will continue the characterization of the temporal evolution of the SL9 impact sites with continued UV, visible and methane band imaging, and FOS spectroscopy.
