Scientific paper
Methods for investigating nonequilibrium of meteor radiation are discussed. The effective excitation temperature and the temperature and degree of ionization and the concentration of certain ions in the meteor coma can be determined by these methods. The author has investigated several photographic spectra of bright Perseid meteors. The excitation temperature is found in the range 1500 - 12000K, and the ionization temperature in the range 1600 - 7000K. The concentration of Ca II ions was determined - 1016 - 1018cm-3 in the meteor coma. It is shown that these physical characteristics reach their minimum values at the maximum of the meteor brightness.
