Minor Planets: Light Curves

Scientific paper

The authors present photoelectric observations of the astroid 55 Pandora in February - March 1989 (6 nights) and September - November 1991 (15 nights). The average amplitudes of the light curves at those two oppositions were 0m22 and 0m10, respectively. They have obtained phase relations of the brightness of Pandora in the range of phase angles Δa = 2°5 - 1°4 in 1989 and Δa = 0°3 - 16°3 in 1991. The linear phase coefficient averaged over the two oppositions 0.030 mag./deg, and the absence of a spike effect at α < 2° indicate that Pandora is a typical representative of M-type asteroids, and the high albedo measured by the IRAS satellite is not real.
