Mkn 421 is a bright BL lac object with a simple absorbed power-law continuum. This source will be used to measure the relative throughput of the gratings. Mkn 421 was the primary in-flight spectroscopic calibration source for the ROSAT PSPC. The LETG/HRC-S observation will be done simultaneously with a EUVE observation to allow a cross calibration of LETG/HRC-S in the 100-160A spectral region. The EUVE observing window for Mkn421 is between 11/22 and 5/17.
