A new simple model, in general relativity, for the `corona' of a neutrino-radiating star showing critical behaviour is presented; for simplicity we assume spherical symmetry. New solutions of the Einstein equations are exhibited. The physical properties of the model are analysed and the conditions for the existence or absence of a bounce (explosion) are discussed.
