The data derived from study of the most primitive meteorites bears on the physical and chemical processes typical of the earliest solar system, including the time scales, thermal and chemical evolution, inhomogeneity and mixing, magnetic fields, and grain growth of the nebula at the time during which planetesimals were undergoing accretion. Little direct evidence remains in meteorites, however, concerning the actual accretion process.
