Halide and sulfate efflorescences are common on meteorite finds,
especially those from cold deserts. Meanwhile, the late-stage sulfate
veins in Orgueil are universally accepted as having originated by the
action of late-stage high fO2 aqueous alteration on an asteroid. I
suggest here that these phenomena have essentially the same origin.
