MONS is a proposed mini-satellite that will consist of a 30cm telescope and a CCD camera. It will perform two-colour photometry on highly defocussed stellar images. The primary scientific aim is to measure oscillations in about 25 nearby solar-like stars by monitoring the brightness and colour fluctuations in each star for about one month. Here we discuss the MONS orbit and the anticipated noise levels, presenting simulations of the oscillation signals we expect to produce.
