The magnetic irregularities superposed on Parker's (1959) spiral field, which cause cosmic ray scattering in the heliomagnetosphere, are taken into account in an examination of the fluctuations of asymptotic direction. Orbits are calculated by Monte Carlo simulation on the basis of multiple scattering process theory. It is shown that the dispersion of the projected deviation angle is primarily determined by the scattering mean free path and by the structure of the magnetic field (the polarity state of the heliomagnetosphere and the extent of the neutral sheet). Also investigated is the influence of the fluctuations in asymptotic direction on the sidereal daily variation.
