For more than one year a detector for environmental radiation (airborne
radionuclides and cosmic rays) has been operated at the Italian base in
the Arctic. We report here on time variations of the cosmic ray
component in the energy range 3-18 MeV and compare them with
observations made by neutron monitor stations at different latitudes.
