The possibility that low-temperature anomalies exist in melting curves of quantum Fermi crystals is considered along with some consequences of such anomalies. These peculiarities include the Pomeranchuk minimum near the Fermi temperature as well as possible discontinuities at ultralow temperatures (much less than the Fermi temperature). The cases of ordinary and superfluid Fermi systems are examined, and application is made to the case of nucleon matter in the central regions of neutron stars. The results indicate that the thermal evolution of crystalline neutron cores is nonmonotonic in nature and that the thermal evolution of a neutron crystal leads to energy release in all cases. It is shown that the characteristic time intervals between starquakes and associated glitches is determined by the stellar cooling rate in the present model, and it is noted that starquakes may also be possible in old neutron stars (those cooled to below 100 million K).
