The new KamLAND detector of the Kamioka Observatory in Japan is nearing completion. The 1-kiloton liquid scintillator-based detector will measure the spectrum and flux of anti-neutrinos from distant Japanese nuclear reactors in hopes of detecting neutrino oscillations in a mass and mixing angle region relevant to the Solar Neutrino Problem within three years.
