Nondestructive gamma-ray spectrometry and gamma-gamma coincidence spectrometry were used to measure the cosmogenic radionuclide Al-26 in the Kirin meteorite. The 'orbital effect' of Al-26 is discussed with attention to the modulation of galactic cosmic-ray intensity along the meteorite's orbit as a result of solar activity. The aphelion of the Kirin meteorite orbit is estimated to be approximately 2.17 AU, and it is concluded that the meteorite probably derived from an Apollo asteroid.
