The question of strong scattering of seismic waves in arbitrarily heterogeneous media is one of extremely difficult problems in the research into seismic scattering. For developing methods of seismic inversion and imaging with high resolving power, however, the above-mentioned problem has to be solved. In the past ten years, some nice results on the problem of strong scattering of seismic waves have been obtained. These results, however, are valid only for some special cases. In order to treat more general problems of scattering of seismic waves, a general solution of wave equation for arbitrarily heterogeneous acoustic media is given by the method of Green's function in the research described in this paper. This Green function not only is available for arbitrarily heterogeneous acoustic media, but also can be written as a simple and convenient series. Also, some numerical results are shown in this paper.
