Numerical values are calculated for the tidal effect of Saturn on its planet-size satellite Titan, considering only Saturn and Titan and assuming both are spherical. Furthermore, the mass displacements on Titan's surface which would lead to secondary tides are not taken into account. Results show a strong tidal effect of Saturn on Titan, not only for the static deformation but also to a great extent for the periodic deformation. The tidal effects are important for understanding the observation that large areas of the surface of Titan are covered with liquid hydrogen.
