Statistical comparisons of the largest refracting, reflecting and Schmidt telescopes around the world are made. The refracting telescopes are the oldest, dating from 1873 to 1925, with the firm of Alvin Clark and Sons dominant in this category. All reflecting telescopes but two have been inaugurated since 1973, on one hand, while Schmidt telescopes to date are from the last two decades. Charts are given with information for each telescope: clear aperture, inches, mirror diameter, focal length, focal ratio, optics maker, mirror material, mounting maker, date of operation, latitude, longitude, elevation, official telescope name, official observatory name and official site name; data on cassegrain focal ratio, coude focal ratio and mounting type are added for reflecting telescopes.
