The superrotation of the Venus atmosphere and certain characteristics of its thermal regime are explained by the negative-viscosity phenomenon, i.e., the transfer of kinetic energy from smaller to larger large-scale horizontal turbulent vortices arising during stability loss of a Hadley cell formed in the region of maximum solar-radiation absorption at heights of 55-65 km. The entropy balance equation is used to determine values of the vertical and horizontal turbulent viscosity coefficients.
