In this work we have studied the energetic particle event "presumably" associated with a Magnetic Cloud occurred during the maximum solar activity of cycle XXI. After analyzing the energetic particles fluxes, directional information and magnetic field and plasma parameters, we suggest that the dramatic decrease observed in the low-energy particle fluxes, is not due to the spacecraft encounter with a Magnetic Cloud, but with the spacecraft "immersion" in a different magnetic sector. Possible sources for the "high" energy particles detected inside this sector are also suggested.
