Various Compton telescopes have been proposed to observe polarization in hard X-ray and soft gamma-ray bands (20--300 keV).
We have developed two types of Compton telescopes, one is a plastic scintillator based Compton telescope for low energy sensitivity and the other is a semiconductor Compton telescope with imaging capability and fine energy resolution. Polarization performance of such instruments have been confirmed using polarized synchrotron light.
Combining these Compton telescopes with focusing optics will open new possibilities to improve sensitivities and allow measurement of position
dependent polarization of extended sources such as Crab nebula and SNRs.
In this paper, we discuss design considerations for focusing plane instruments and present expected scientific polarization performance of proposed configurations.
