The source surface radius, at which the coronal magnetic field is considered to be radial, plays an important role in the current solar coronal magnetic field modeling. Its value affects shapes of computed magnetic structures. Total solar eclipse pictures of corona, processed by a special numerical method, show very faint structures, extended from chromosphere to several solar radii. Under the assumption that these structures represent a real magnetic situation in the corona, a value of the source surface radius can be estimated through the analysis of their shapes. We present values of the source surface radius for 8 eclipses and the evolution of source surface radius during a solar activity cycle.
