The paper intends to present a history of the solar eclipses observed in
common by the two countries. This has been possible due to the long
cooperation between the two countries, which lasts for at least three
centuries. The most important results were obtained during the total
solar eclipses of 1893, observed in Senegal, and of 11 August 1999.
