The radial velocities listed by Bakos (1983), in support of his
assertion that 5 Ser and ο Aql show flare activity, show a scatter
similar to that normally encountered with the spectrograph he used, and
are distributed according to a normal curve of error. It is suggested
that the claimed variability is spurious.
