JHKLM observations of the central part of η Carinae (5″times;5″, obtained with the adaptive optics systems COME-ON and COME-ON+, are reported at angular resolutions between 0.1″and 0.25″ These observations show the very complex structure of the core, which includes an equatorial torus, shells of dust around the central object, and a jet like structure. No evidence of multiplicity is found. It is shown that a component with a temperature ≅1000K (most probably dust) is present within 100 AU of the central star.
