Using Mars Global Surveyor's (MGS) magnetometer/electron reflectometer, we present new and revised observations of low frequency plasma waves in the near Mars space. For the entire spatial extent of the MGS pre-mapping orbits (from the ionosphere to several Mars radii beyond the Martian bow shock), we show (using revised analysis techniques) observations of the waves' transverse and longitudinal amplitudes, their senses of polarization, their ellipticity, and their directions of propagation. We also present new observations of the correlation between the electron fluxes and the magnetic perturbations and observations of the relative amplitudes of the waves relative to the planetary surface. We present new observations of the peak frequencies of the waves in several wave bands, including the 1 to 10 Hz band, the 0.1 to 1 Hz band, and the 0.01 to 0.1 Hz band. We also discuss the potential of these observations as an indirect probe of various plasma parameters and as a sign of on-going atmospheric loss.
