An estimation of microelement contents, manganese, boron, copper, zinc, molybdenum and cobalt made in eleven typical samples of Indian soils indicated a concentration of these elements in soils with pH values around 4.5 and 8.5 respectively. Preliminary experiments conducted to study precipitation of microelements in solutions confirmed such a possibility. The results are discussed in relation to the sorption properties of the hydroxides of iron and manganese.
