This year is one of the best opportunities to try and observe an outburst of alpha-Monocerotids, because of a near New Moon, a favorable radiant position for Europe, and a similar relative position of the major planets as in 1935, which was the year of the strongest alpha-Monocerotid outburst yet observed. This event is very spectacular when the observing conditions are favorable, and quite unique, because of its short duration. Prospects for this year's event are given.
