We report the detection of an X-ray transient, XMMSL1 J152835.4 +593754, at a position RA=15h28m35.4s, DEC=+59d37m54s (J2000, error radius 8") by the XMM-Newton slew survey on December 21st 2007. The count rate is 0.6 c/s in the EPIC-pn camera (0.2-2 keV), which equates to a flux 28 times higher than the 2-sigma upper limit from the ROSAT All Sky Survey (RASS) at the same position. The source position is coincident, within the errors, with the high proper motion star, LSPM J1528+5937, (USNO B-1 1496-0226846, B=18.77, V(est)=17.1, R=15.7, I=13.3) whose J2000, Ep=J2000 position is RA: 15 28 35.26 , Dec: +59 37 58.9 The proper motion of LSPM J1528+5937 is dRA=-0.226 arcsec/yr, dDec=0.047 arcsec/yr.
