The present paper discusses features of the formation of thermal-radiation fields in Jupiter's atmosphere above the clouds. The vertical temperature and pressure profiles, which are necessary for computing the spectral intensities of the ascending and descending radiation, were compiled from astrophysical data in the literature. The characteristic features of the formation of radiation fields above the clouds in Jupiter's atmosphere are explained by the spectral structure of the transmission function and the strong absorption of IR radiation in vibrational-rotational bands of atmospheric NH3 and CH4 and in pressure-induced H2 bands. Ammonia plays the leading role in Jupiter's thermal state, as water vapor does in the earth's atmosphere.
