The lateral distribution of high-energy muons (E greater than or equal to 220 GeV) in EAS has been obtained by several groups, and the results are consistent with each other. The experimental lateral distribution is, however, flatter than that predicted using scaling models for high-energy interactions (for any primary composition). In this paper, the scaling model is modified to include the production of charm particles, and the lateral distribution of high-energy muons in EAS is simulated. It is observed that the effect of inclusion of charm production on the lateral distribution of high-energy muons is negligible.
