Large-scale dynamics of the equatorial F-region are reviewed, with emphasis on effects due to electric fields and thermospheric winds. The so-called equatorial fountain and the post-sunset rise of the F2-layer are discussed; the effects of neutral air winds on the F2-layer are considered, with attention given to developments that result from convergent or divergent horizontal winds. Semi-annual variation in the F2-layer electron density, maintenance of the equatorial F2-layer at night, and the effects of magnetic storms on the equatorial F2-layer are also mentioned.
