Star counts in and around the six open clusters NGC 1647, 2099, 2439, 2482, T9, and NGC 2539, performed on Schmidt plates have yielded the diameters of the clusters and the luminosity function for three of them. It is believed that the diameters given are rather reliably determined; they are in general larger than previous estimates which were made mostly on photographic prints. In NGC 2099 the bright stars give a smaller diameter than the fainter ones. This indicates that the bright stars are located close to the center. The luminosity function in NGC 1647, 2099, and T9 show that the range in absolute magnitude is around 7.
